Law enforcement is investigating the discovery of an alleged “threatening note” at Clarkson Elementary School on Friday morning, May 13.
Grayson County Schools issued the following statement on Friday regarding the incident:
This morning, a threatening note was discovered at Clarkson Elementary. Although it did not appear to be credible, law enforcement officials were brought in to thoroughly investigate. Upon completion, they determined it to be non-credible. Principal Erika DeVore issued a call to all Clarkson families notifying them of the situation and that all students were safe.
Our first priority is, and always will be, student safety. Though we found this note completely without credibility, we will always conduct a thorough investigation and take all appropriate actions any time there is a concern regarding student safety.
Clarkson Chief of Police Buck Meredith said that, as of around noon on Friday, officers felt the school was safe and secure but would remain at Clarkson Elementary through the afternoon.
“This is a criminal matter, and an investigation is ongoing,” Meredith said. “These things will not be tolerated by the school administration or law enforcement.”
