The Grayson County Women’s Missionary Union will be hosting its Fifth Annual Ladies Day Spring Conference on Saturday, Apr. 30, 2016 at Clarkson Baptist Church. The theme of the conference will be “Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord.”
As explained by Susan Lindsey, the Union is a combined group from five different Southern Baptist churches in Grayson County, Liberty Baptist, Little Clifty Baptist, Leitchfield First Baptist, Clearview Baptist and Clarkson Baptist.
Each of those churches has a women’s group of its own, but they all come together every three months to discuss issues facing women in Grayson County.
The free Ladies Day conference came about after interest was shown in having church members attend state and national conferences, but were put off because of the cost involved.
“We knew that many women in the area did not have a lot of money to spend on something like this, so we decided to create our own, free conference,” Lindsey said.
The Union provides financial support to local agencies dealing with women who need help dealing with every-day issues such as financial difficulty, emotional issues, or domestic violence. The Union also provides funding for foreign missions.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with refreshments being served. The day will then be filled with singing and guest speakers speaking of “Lessons from the Heart.”
Speakers will include Alma Randolph, Molly Eme, and Diana Romero, who hails from Venezuela. There will also be speakers representing local agencies who deal with women’s issues: The Grayson County Center for Women’s Ministry, Clear Choices and the Grayson County Alliance.
There will be door prizes given away during breaks in the conference and Leslie Goff-Sanders will be singing at times throughout the day.
Lindsey said there have been a lot of older women who have attended the conference in the past, and those women have a clear understanding of the options available to them, but she is hoping to draw many more younger women who may not know the kind of programs that are available to them when they need help of one kind or another.
If you are a woman who is struggling to survive in today’s stressful world, or just someone who is curious to know what the conference is all about, give Brenda Batchelder a call at 270-230-3015 to sign up for a day of enlightenment.
