Sheriff warns of counterfeit bills

Staff Report

In a statement to the media, Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins recently warned Grayson County and surrounding businesses of counterfeit bills circulating locally.

Chaffins’ statement reads as follows:

Recently, there [have] been counterfeit 100 dollar bills passed locally in Grayson County. It was not discovered until after the bill had been accepted. Advice to businesses is to use the marker used to detect counterfeit bills immediately upon receipt of the bill. Also, be on the lookout for counterfeit 20’s and 50’s. If you receive any suspected counterfeit bills, you may contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office at 270-259-3024 or your local law enforcement.
