Pine Knob Theatre preps for 30th season

Staff Report

The Pine Knob Theatre’s annual organizational meeting and auditions for the upcoming season will be held at the Theatre at 2250 Pine Knob Rd. on Sunday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m., followed by rehearsals for the “Dock Brown” production.

This is the 30th season for Pine Knob, and a total of nine different productions will be held this year. Opening night, June 4, will be a special night with dignitaries and former cast members.

The Theatre opened in 1987 with “Dock Brown,” the true story of the infamous outlaw who lived in Pine Knob from 1842 until his death in 1851. And this June 4, a special production of the same play with a bluegrass band and three former Dock Brown actors returning to the stage with one of the biggest casts since the play opened in 1987.

Just this month’s April issue of Kentucky Living magazine, which is the largest circulated magazines in Kentucky, the readers voted Pine Knob Theatre one of the top three best community theatres in Kentucky.

Come join the fun this season and attend the May 1 meeting at 2:00 p.m.
