The Grayson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced this week that April Kinkade Spalding will join the Chamber as its new Executive Director on Monday, April 18.
Spalding is a 2004 graduate of Grayson County High School. She moved to Louisville, KY in 2005 and started her career at Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory as a tour guide.
By 2008, Spalding became the Group Sales Manager, and, by 2013, she became the Group Sales & Events Manager for Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory.
“April’s experience in event management and her development of partnerships with different commercial organizations in Louisville [are] what made her stand out as our candidate,” said Chamber President Greg Bernard.
During her time in Louisville, Spalding also received two Associate’s Degrees in Business Administration and General Business from Jefferson Community & Technical College.
April Spalding met her husband, Nick Spalding, of Louisville, during her time at Louisville Slugger, and the two were married in 2011. Nick Spalding works for Wilson Sporting Goods as a Territory Specialist for the Kentucky region.
April and Nick Spalding welcomed Nash Robert Spalding into the world in February of 2015. After their son arrived, April and Nick Spalding agreed that they wanted to raise him in Grayson County and decided to move back in July of 2015.
April Spalding wanted to not only return to the community in which she grew up, but to also take part in it.
“I look forward to getting involved in the community and applying my previous work experience to my new role at the Chamber,” said April Spalding.
Current Chamber Executive Director Becky Escue will remain at the Chamber until June 1, 2016 to help April Spalding with the transition.
