Leitchfield Utilities announced Thursday, April 7 that two of its employees had received awards from the Kentucky Water & Wastewater Operators’ Association (KWWOA).
Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry made the announcement during the regularly scheduled April 7 Leitchfield Utilities Commission meeting.
Angel Saltsman was awarded the 2015 J.C. Chambers Award for Wastewater Operator of the Year at the 2016 KWWOA Annual Conference, held in Louisville on Monday, March 21.
Saltsman received the award for excellence in operations, laboratory, and commitment to the operators’ association.
Additionally, Chief Wastewater Plant Operator Robin Strader received the 2015 Nicholas Award from the KWWOA and accommodation from the Division of Water for designing and implementing the field only lab certification training last year.
In other business:
*Leitchfield Utilities Chairman Robert Crawford said several residents of Quiggins Lane have requested that the Lilac Road water line be extended to Quiggins Lane.
Crawford said the Utilities Commission had previously agreed to extend the water line if the Quiggins Lane residents purchased the material, but discussions ceased.
With Quiggins Lane residents once again requesting that the four- to six-inch line be extended, Crawford said he wanted to advise the Utilities Commission in case they see the work appear on their bill list.
*It was announced that Leitchfield Utilities will host Confined Space Training on Thursday, April 21 at Ronald Hudson Leitchfield Fire Station 1 beginning at 8 a.m.
*The Utilities Commission voted to cancel its Thursday, April 21 meeting because a number of officials will be unable to attend.
