Western Kentucky Parkway traffic ground to a halt for a large portion of Saturday, June 20 following a tractor trailer wreck.
According to Sheriff Norman Chaffins, a westbound Averitt Express tractor trailer was the only vehicle involved in the early-morning collision which occurred between the 98 and 99 mile markers at approximately 5 a.m.
The truck’s driver, Owensboro resident Jeremy Green, reportedly lost control of the vehicle he was operating, and then traveled down the grass median and overturned.
The tractor trailer came to a final rest across both westbound lanes of traffic, effectively blocking the flow of traffic in that direction.
The parkway remained closed while crews worked to remove the truck and debris from the roadway, and was not reopened until approximately 4 p.m.
No injuries were reported in relation to the accident.
Deputy Jeff King, with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office was in charge of the scene, and was assisted by both the Caneyville Volunteer Fire Department and the State Road Department.
