An Owensboro man was found dead in a vehicle in Caneyville on Sunday, March 13.

At approximately 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, Grayson County Central Dispatch received a call regarding a truck off the roadway around the 1100 block of Walnut Grove Road in Caneyville, according to a news release from Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins.

The caller stated that he had walked to his mailbox and noticed a grey 2002 Ford pickup at the edge of the woods in the back of his yard.

Chaffins said the caller found an unresponsive male, whom was not breathing, in the driver’s seat of the Ford.

The driver, 29-year-old Joshua L. Rose, from Owensboro, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson.

There was minor damage to the vehicle, and speed does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, according to Chaffins.

The victim was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy, Chaffins said.

Caneyville Volunteer Fire Department and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services personnel assisted Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Bryan Hammons at the scene.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
