Grayson County Schools announced this week that make-up days have been set for the recent school days missed due to snow.
Grayson County Schools (GCS) will build the remaining weather-related make-up days into the end of this school year’s calendar, GCS Public Information Officer Caryn Lewis said in a statement released to the media on Tuesday, March 1.
The first and previously announced make-up date will be held on Friday, March 18, and the remaining days will start on Wednesday, May 25.
There will be no school on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30), so students’ final day of school is currently scheduled for Friday, June 3.
According to Lewis, a total of nine student school days have been missed during the 2015-2016 school year due to snow, but the school district will use one of its “bank days” so that it will only be required to make up eight of those days.
“Each year, Grayson County Schools builds a 174-day instructional calendar, which is beyond the 170 required by the state,” said Lewis.
GCS’s plan maintains the week of Spring Break (April 4 through 8) and allows for an early June graduation date, which will be announced closer to that time, Lewis said.
