The second crash in a week at the intersection of William Thomason Byway and Salt River Road sent three people to the hospital on Thursday afternoon, March 3.
At approximately 2:08 p.m. on Thursday, Leitchfield Police Department (LPD), Leitchfield Fire Department, and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) personnel responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Salt River Road and William Thomason Byway in Leitchfield.
The initial investigation into the crash revealed that a 2006 Ford Five Hundred, driven by Cassandra Lindsey, 17, of Leitchfield, was travelling north on Salt River Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign, according to investigating LPD Detective Kevin Smith.
The Ford then entered William Thomason Byway into the path of a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Laura Carroll, 44, of Leitchfield, Smith said.
The vehicles then collided in the intersection of William Thomason Byway.
Carroll, Lindsey, and a 2-year-old child passenger of the Ford were all transported from the scene by GCEMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for serious, but non-life-threatening, accident-related injuries.
Both the Ford and the Hyundai were disabled as a result of the crash and removed from the scene by towing services.
