We, here at the Grayson County News-Gazette, are excited to announce we are moving to a new location.
On Tuesday morning, March 1, we will open for business at 52 Public Square in Leitchfield, just around the corner from our current location.
To celebrate this move, we would like to invite everyone to our open house celebration on Wednesday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have a drawing for a free subscription, and light snacks will be provided.
Local news has been the heart and soul of our organization since we first started publishing newspapers in 1890, and for well over a century, we have worked diligently to bring the readers of Grayson County the most comprehensive local news and information possible.
The first paper in Grayson County, named The Grayson Journal, was printed in 1874 and moved to Brandenburg, KY in 1876.
What is now known as the Grayson County News-Gazette was the second newspaper published in Grayson County and was first printed in April 1881 as the Leitchfield Sunbeam. It was sold in 1886, and the name was changed to The Leitchfield Gazette.
A second Grayson County paper, The Grayson County News, was established in Caneyville in 1905. This paper changed hands several times and was eventually moved to Leitchfield in March 1925.
In late 1977, the two papers were combined, and the paper was named the Grayson County News-Gazette. We have been your twice-weekly community news source since that time.
This move is an exciting venture for us as we continue to share the community happenings of Grayson County, both in print and online at www.gcnewsgazette.com.
