Two people were injured in a collision at the intersection of Salt River Road and William Thomason Byway on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 25.
At approximately 12:26 p.m. on Thursday, Leitchfield Police Department (LPD), Leitchfield Fire Department (LFD), Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) personnel responded to the crash scene.
According to investigating LPD Detective Kevin Smith, a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by Gaylen Logan, 20, of Morgantown, KY, was travelling north on Salt River Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of William Thomason Byway.
The Honda then entered the path of a 2010 Ford Fusion, driven by Forrest Carter, 26, of Leitchfield, that was travelling north on William Thomason Byway, Smith said.
The Ford struck the Honda in the right front, causing both vehicles to then leave the roadway and strike a guardrail, according to Smith.
Both Logan and Carter were trapped in their vehicles when first responders arrived on the scene and had to be extricated by LFD personnel, according to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall.
Logan and Carter were transported from the scene by GCEMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for serious but non-life-threatening, accident-related injuries.
Both vehicles were disabled as a result of the crash and removed from the scene by towing services.
