Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) recently announced the beginning of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.
“Originating in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition has become an anticipated event each year,” said Guthrie. “I’m looking forward to continuing this tradition and seeing what our young Kentucky artists create this year. I wish all of the participants the best of luck in this competition.”
All high school art students (grades 9-12) are encouraged to submit artwork for the competition. The first place winner will receive two airplane tickets to fly to Washington, D.C. to view their artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol Building and attend a reception in their honor. The winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol Building for the next year.
All artwork and application materials must be sent to Guthrie’s District Office by April 13, 2016. Winners will be announced on April 25, 2016. All artwork will be returned to the students.
Rules and guidelines are available under the “Constituent Services” section of Guthrie’s website: http://www.guthrie.house.gov/congressional-art-competition1#dialog. Faculty or students with questions can also contact Kylie Foushee in Guthrie’s District Office at (270) 842-9896.
