A Bee Springs man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Anneta Road on Sunday morning, Feb. 14.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse, owned and operated by Dakota Powell, 20, of Bee Springs, was travelling southbound in the 9000 block of Anneta Road (KY 259), located outside of Leitchfield, according to a news release from the investigating Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4.
“Due to icy conditions, he lost control of his vehicle and began to slide sideways and into the northbound lane,” KSP Trooper Jeff Gregory wrote in the release.
At the same time, Danny Kennemore, Jr., 30, of Leitchfield, along with front passenger Jamie Kennemore, 26, and a male juvenile back passenger were travelling northbound on Anneta Road and struck the Mitsubishi in the passenger side, the release states.
Powell was ejected from his vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene by the Grayson County Coroner’s Office, according to Deputy Grayson County Coroner Larry Holeman.
Powell’s preliminary cause of death was ruled “blunt force trauma,” Holeman said.
All of the occupants in Kennemore’s vehicle were transported from the scene by ambulance to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for minor injuries, the release read.
As of Monday evening, Feb. 15, this accident was still under investigation by KSP Trooper Brandon Brooks.
