Utilities buy new dump truck

The Leitchfield Utilities Commission approved the purchase of a new dump truck last week.

Earlier this month, Leitchfield Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry presented the bids received, as well as his recommendation for a new dump truck for Leitchfield Utilities.

During its regularly scheduled, Thursday, Jan. 21 meeting, the Utilities Commission selected a 2017 Kenworth T300 Series dump truck with 345 horsepower and 1,150 lb/ft. torque at the cost of $78,600.

The Kenworth will be purchased from Peterson Truck Center, out of Louisville, KY.

In addition, on Thursday, the Utilities Commission approved the purchase of a dump truck bed at the cost of $19,055, according to Leitchfield City Clerk/Treasurer Kim Sowders.

The dump truck bed will be purchased from and installed by Rogers Manufacturing Corporation, out of Nashville, TN.

In other business:

*The Utilities Commission entered Executive Session to discuss potential litigation; however, no action was taken.
