The Twin Lakes All-Stars were invited to perform during the pre-game show for the Harlem Globetrotters this past Saturday, Jan. 17 in Louisville.

43 to 45 of about 80 cheerleaders and dancers journeyed to the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville on Sunday to perform, according to Jennifer Henderson, coach of the Twin Lakes All-Stars and owner of Twin Lakes Gymnastics in Clarkson.

“It was a really great experience for them,” said Henderson, adding that the Twin Lakes All-Stars had the opportunity to warm up for their performance backstage with the Globetrotters themselves.

The performing cheerleaders and dancers, all from Grayson County and ranging in age from 5 to 17, held three practices to set their routine for the performance, according to Henderson.

About 300 people from Grayson County attended the event to see the Twin Lakes All-Stars perform in what was likely their biggest arena yet, Henderson said.

Prior to their routine, the members of the team gathered in a circle to pray in the middle of the arena to “show who we are and what we believe in,” said Henderson.

Next, the Twin Lakes All-Stars will travel to Cincinnati, OH at the end of the month to compete in national competition.

“This is a sport, and it’s a hard sport,” Henderson said. “These girls are dedicated.”
