The Clarkson Police Department (CPD) teamed up with Santa Claus this week to spread holiday cheer to those in need.

Clarkson Chief of Police Buck Meredith said he and Clarkson Police Officer Rick Clemons hosted the first annual “HoHo with the PoPo” event, through which they, along with Santa himself, travelled around the city in a Clarkson Police cruiser delivering gifts to less fortunate and needy children and sharing “the true meaning of Christmas.”

In addition, the CPD also visited families of soldiers deployed during the holiday season in an effort to show the department’s appreciation for them, their deployed loved ones, and the sacrifices they make, Meredith said.

“I am very thankful for everyone who helped make HoHo with the PoPo a success,” Meredith said. “We look forward to making this an annual event.”

Meredith said that the CPD enjoyed this year’s event so much that the agency plans to hold a fundraiser throughout next year to make next year’s event even bigger and better.
