Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana (BBBSKY) will be hosting a luxurious fundraiser on Thursday, June 18 at The Center on Main.
The non-profit organization, which pairs at-need children with responsible adult mentors, relies on donations from the public to continue operating, and the Luxury Lock-Up Fundraiser later this week is expected to be a fun way to bring in such funding so that kids’ lives can continue to be impacted by BBBSKY’s work.
According to BBBSKY Community Engagement Manager Kelly Wells, local business and community leaders will be committing to two hours during lunchtime on Thursday to work toward raising funds.
Participants will be “locked up” with “good food and beverages, soft music, massages and other stress relieving amenities,” Wells said.
In exchange for their luxurious accommodations, “Individuals who agree to ‘turn themselves in’ arrive with pledges from the community and make phone calls to family, friends, and business associates to get pledges” for BBBSKY, Wells explained.
“The total amount of pledges received will determine the amount of ‘pampering’ the sponsor will receive that day.”
While the day may be all about fun and relaxation, Wells said that the donations brought in “will support a substantial portion of our operating budget and funds raised will help further our mission of providing children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.”
