On Tuesday, Dec. 8, Attorney General-Elect Andy Beshear issued the following statement on the inauguration of Governor Matt Bevin:
“I congratulate Matt Bevin on being sworn in today as Kentucky’s 62nd Governor. As the incoming Attorney General, I look forward to working with Governor Bevin and his cabinet to continue Kentucky’s momentum toward strengthening the quality of life for families and communities across the state.
“Kentucky is a special place with a rich history and a core set of values and beliefs that tie us all together. Our pioneer ancestors established this great Commonwealth as our young nation’s ‘First Frontier.’ If we are to meet the ongoing challenges of our state and chart new paths, we must stand united in the spirit of bipartisanship and determination of those who came before us.
“I ask Governor Bevin and legislative leaders from both parties to partner with the Office of the Attorney General as we work to prevent child abuse, address drug abuse, better protect our seniors and end our backlog of rape kits. Only working together will we build an even greater Kentucky for our children, families and most vulnerable citizens.”
