Matt Lasley | GC News-Gazette The Leitchfield Utilities Commission, last Thursday, accepted a bid for a John Deere Gator that had been advertised for sale.

During its regularly scheduled, Thursday, Dec. 3 meeting, the Leitchfield Utilities Commission voted to sell one of its UTVs.

Leitchfield Utilities had previously placed a surplus, 2000 model John Deere Gator for bid, and last week, the Utilities Commission voted to accept the highest bid from David Roof, which was $1,502.97.

In addition to placing the UTV up for bid, the utilities had also advertised for bids for the purchase of a dump truck and dump bed, originally estimated to cost between $75,000 and $100,000.

After receiving bids for the dump truck, Leitchfield Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry recommended that the Utilities Commission reject the bids.

Embry also recommended that the utilities tighten up and redefine the bid specs and advertise for new bids for the dump truck and dump bed after this has been done.

Based on Embry’s recommendation, the Utilities Commission passed a motion to reject the dump truck and dump bed bids, redefine the bid specs, and advertise for new bids at a later date.
