Five people were taken to the hospital following a crash at the intersection of Wax Road and Grayson Springs Road in Wax on Sunday afternoon, June 14.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), Wax Volunteer Fire Department, Clarkson Volunteer Fire Department, and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) personnel responded to the crash.
Prior to the crash, a blue Ford Fiesta SE, driven by Leslie Terry, 19, of Indiana, had stopped on Grayson Springs Road to make a left turn onto Wax Road, according to responding GCSO Deputy Jarrod Mudd.
Terry told police that she did not see anyone coming when she pulled onto Wax Road in front of a pewter Buick LeSabre, driven by 79-year-old Marion Bishop and travelling straight on Wax Road through the intersection, Mudd said.
The two cars then collided at the intersection, injuring everyone inside both vehicles, Mudd said.
Also in the Ford at the time of the wreck was Jacob Tester, 19, of Greenwood, IN, and also in the Buick were Mike Bishop, 44, and one other passenger whose identity has not yet been released.
Terry, Tester, Marion and Mike Bishop, and the second unidentified Buick passenger were all transported from the scene to the hospital to receive medical treatment for accident-related injuries, Mudd said.
Two of the five people involved in the accident were flown from the scene by an AirMethods emergency helicopter to receive medical treatment, but the identities of those flown out have not yet been released.
