Shooting near Clarkson

Brittany Wise | GC News-Gazette.com Sheriff Norman Chaffins marked off the entry to a residence with police tape on Friday after a man was reportedly shot inside the home.


A man was shot on Tuesday morning in a home on Hickory Flatts Road in Clarkson.

E-911 Dispatch received a call at around 12:21 p.m. on Nov. 24 alerting them to the incident which occurred at 3870 Hickory Flatts Road.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson Police Department, Grayson County EMS, Kentucky State Police and Clarkson Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene.

Preliminary communications between first responders indicated that the shooting was carried out with a handgun, and that a male subject had entered the home without consent.

One man appears to have been taken into custody, and responders called for an emergency helicopter.

As of press time on Tuesday, no names had been released by the Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation.

The extent of the injuries suffered by the victim are still unclear; however unverified information indicates that the shooting was fatal.
