The local Salvation Army is looking for citizens to give back to their community by volunteering as bell ringers for the coming holiday season.

There are two-hour shifts available for volunteers to ring the bells and collect donations outside of the Leitchfield Walmart every Monday through Saturday from Friday, Nov. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 24.

The bells ring each day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Donations to the bell ringing campaign help fund the local Salvation Army’s efforts in Grayson County, which include assisting people in emergency situations and investing in area youth programs.

According to a Salvation Army news release, the local Salvation Army unit raises between $10,000 and $12,000 annually from the bell ringing campaign, comprising about 90 percent of the local unit’s annual budget.

For more information, or to sign up to ring the bells, call 270-259-0043.
