A 25-year-old Leitchfield man is facing child sex abuse charges in Grayson Circuit Court.
Gavin D. Sandlin, of Sandlin Drive in Leitchfield, was indicted on Nov. 3 on two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree of a victim under 12 years of age, and one count of sodomy in the first degree of a victim under 12 years of age.
Court documents accuse Sandlin of victimizing two different children on at least three separate occasions between October of 2010 and July of 2015.
On or about Feb. 28 of this year, Sandlin purportedly subjected a child who was five years old at the time “to deviate sexual intercourse” according to his indictment.
Less than five months later, on July 9, 2015, he allegedly subjected the same child to sexual contact once again. By that time, the child had turned six.
A separate charge accuses Sandlin of subjecting another child to sexual contact during a span of time between October 2010 and August 2013. During those dates, the child was between the ages of 10 and 13 years old.
A pre-trial hearing has been set for Sandlin on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.
The Commonwealth recommended that Sandlin be held on a $20,000 bond with 50 percent being required in cash. As of press time, he was being lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
An indictment is a formal criminal charge, but is not a finding of guilt. Any indicted individual is to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
