Local American Legion Posts 81 and 213 will host their annual Veterans Day programs tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 11) at 11 a.m.
American Legion Post 81’s annual program begins with a breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The breakfast is open to the public, as will be the ceremony, which will begin afterward.
Post 81’s ceremony will include a performance of the National Anthem, a flag exercise, and the preparation of the prisoners of war/missing in action (POW/MIA) table.
The guest speaker for the program will be American Legion Post 81 Commander Shane Thomason, an Iraq War veteran who will be speaking about the experiences that led him to decide to take over as Post Commander.
Post 81’s program will last around 30 minutes, and, afterward, the Legion will offer cake and coffee to those in attendance.
At the same time, American Legion Post 213 will host its Veterans Day service, which will also be open to the public. Following the service, Post 213, which currently has approximately 105 members, will serve food, including hot dogs and hamburgers.
American Legion Post 81 is located at 415 Lee Ave. in Leitchfield. American Legion Post 213 is located at 166 VFW Rd. in Falls of Rough, approximately one mile south of the intersection of Highways 79 and 110.
