GCHS Junior Haley Hensel has been selected to attend the Commonwealth Honors Academy on the campus of Murray State University this summer.
The Academy is an exciting, challenging three-week academic and personal growth program for outstanding high school students who have completed their junior year with a 3.5 GPA and 25 Composite ACT. Its academic program stresses the development of each student’s critical thinking abilities, adaptability, creativity, and self-confidence. Students have opportunities through independent effort to develop their personal and intellectual skills under expert supervision.
Upon completion, students receive six hours of university credit with the opportunity to take an additional three hours of tuition-free university courses at Murray during the following fall and spring semesters. They are also awarded a four-year, $2,000-per-year housing scholarship if they choose to attend Murray State University.
