Anyone who enjoys good food, great company, and helping animals can find all three in one place next Saturday, Oct. 24.
The Grayson County Humane Society is hosting their annual Chow Down for the Hounds event at the Grayson County Middle School. The fundraiser, which kicks off at 5 p.m. and is scheduled to run until 8 p.m., is the shelter’s main fundraiser of the year.
The shelter is run completely on donations from people who care just as much about local homeless animals as its all-volunteer staff. All donations will go toward the care of the approximately 1,000 animals who come through the shelter doors annually.
2015 marks the tenth year Chow Down for the Hounds has been held to help local cats and dogs – and the occassionally hedgehog or other cuddly creature – to get the care and shelter they need until they can find a forever home.
In addition to a delicious dinner, event attendees will enjoy a live auction and pick-a-prize raffle.
More than 50 themed gift baskets have been donated for the invent with a variety of themes that are sure to appeal. Themes include seasonal, baking, coffee, pets, travel, gardening, books, and children, just to name a few.
Additionally, basketball fans will be excited about the possibility of coming home with two tickets to a University of Kentucky SEC game.
Anyone interested in gaining more information about the event is encouraged to email the shelter at GraysonHumane.gmail.com.
