An early morning phone call from ONSTAR alerted Grayson County Dispatch, E-911, of an air bag deployed in a vehicle on Wax Road.

When authorities arrived at the scene they found a single-vehicle accident with an unconscious male inside a 2014 Chevrolet pick-up.

According to Grayson County Sheriff, Normal Chaffins, “Kevin M. Miller, 58, of Cub Run, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Chaffins went on to say, “the vehicle left the road, went over an embankment and struck a tree head-on.”

The accident occurred around 3:50 a.m. on the 3700 block of Wax Road, near Grayson Springs Road.

Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jeff King, Wax Fire Department and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident.

Onstar is an in-car telematics system that can be used for many purposes including navigation system and alarm systems.

In this accident the system received word the airbag was deployed in the Silverado and tried to notify the driver. When the driver did not respond the system contacted the dispatch office who in turn notified the First Responders.
