Leitchfield sets 2015 tax rates

In a special-called meeting last Friday, the City of Leitchfield set its tax rates for 2015.

During its Friday, Sept. 25 meeting, the Leitchfield City Council heard the second and final reading of the city’s 2015 Property Tax Rate Ordinance.

Per the ordinance, there will be levied an ad valorem tax of 12 cents per $100 of assessed valuation on all motor vehicles; an ad valorem tax of 20.06 cents per $100 of assessed valuation on other personal property; and an ad valorem tax of 12.02 cents per $100 of assessed valuation real property.

These compensating property tax rates are estimated to result in a $34.41 increase in annual revenue for the City of Leitchfield.

In 2015, the city is projected to earn a total of $295,450.39 from real property taxes and a total of $106,490.13 from personal property taxes.

In other business:

*The City Council approved the purchase of a half-ton, four-wheel-drive truck from Dan Powers GM Center at the cost of $31,712.70 for Leitchfield Public Works Director Sheila Puckett.

*The City Council approved the second and final reading of an ordinance changing the district classification of the property located at 402 West White Oak St. from B-2 (Central Business) to C-1 (Highway Commercial).
