A portion of Anneta Road was closed for an extended period of time on Tuesday, Sept. 15, following a tractor-trailer crash that surprised first responders by resulting in no severe injuries to the driver.
At around 4:03 p.m. on Tuesday, personnel from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments, and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) responded to the crash at 2900 Anneta Rd. in Leitchfield.
Investigating GCSO Deputy Jarrod Mudd said at the scene that, based on the severity of the damage to the truck, when he arrived, he expected the driver of the semi to be injured but was surprised to see him walking around.
The driver, Danny Branham, received only a few minor cuts as a result of the accident and refused transport by GCEMS, Mudd said.
Prior to the crash, the semi was travelling southbound, and Branham told police he felt the trailer begin to sway before it crashed, according to Mudd.
The semi came to a rest beside the roadway, where the trailer lay on its right side, and the cab faced the opposite direction.
Branham said the tractor-trailer, owned by Owen Transport Services, out of Russellville, KY, was transporting whey at the time of the crash.
