Rallying for change

Brittany Wise | GC News-Gazette Leitchfield resident Tim Cockrill made a visual statement as he walked around town recently. With numerous medical prescriptions taped onto himself, and a Duct tape headband dangling a dollar bill in front of his face, Cockrill said he hoped to relay a message about the state of affairs to those who see him. With medication rates sky high, he explained that he cannot afford all of the medicines that he needs to treat a serious condition, which he represents to the public by wearing those prescriptions he cannot fill. The creative headgear represents society’s chase for the “almighty dollar,” he said. Money that we run toward without ever really catching our prize. Cockrill explained, however, that in spite of his illness or the difficulty in affording to take the proper medications or making ends meet financially, he is the happiest he has ever been in his life. His eye-catching attire is his tool to hopefully bring about reform or at the very least, encourage others to think about these difficulties so many individuals face today.
