Information technology professionals in Grayson County will soon have a new support system in place, thanks to an initiative of the Grayson County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.
The group has taken action to establish the Grayson County Information and Technology Foundation.
Chamber Executive Director Becky Escue said, “The mission of this foundation will be to improve the quality of internet and information technology capabilities within Grayson County.”
In addition to those employed in this field, the foundation will serve students and managers who head up these employees. It will also strive to bring improvements which will benefit the entire community.
The first meeting of the foundation will be Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 12 noon, and will be held at the Centre on Main in Leitchfield with lunch provided.
Some of the outlined goals for the foundation include evaluating the internet services currently offered to the community and suggesting improvements, providing on-going monitoring of the quality of internet services within the county, providing the county with leverage in negotiating for improved rates and services, providing a forum for information technology personnel to discuss issues and problems common to their field, exploring the potential for providing training and classes, and standardization of employee technology skills within the community.
