A bridge repair project will shut down the Lilac Road (KY HWY 737) bridge on Tuesday, Sept. 8, and it is expected to remain out of usage until Nov. 30.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Elizabethtown Post, crews will be working to both repair the bridge as well as to widen it, and closure of the roadway is necessary to complete the needed work.
A detour route has been established by the cabinet, and those planning to travel in this area on Tuesday will need to use Brandenburg Road (KY HWY 259).
The Transportation Cabinet has placed message boards along bridge approaches to notify local motorists of the upcoming change.
The projected reopen date of November 30 will mean 12 weeks of detouring hassle for those who frequently use the bridge.
