The Leitchfield Tourism Commission officially announced the films that will be screened at the City of Leitchfield’s free, public movie nights in October.
During a special-called Tourism Commission meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 25, Leitchfield Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson said that, on the Friday, Oct. 16 movie night, Casper will be shown as a family-friendly film at 7 p.m., and Beetlejuice will be shown afterward at 9 p.m. to appeal to an older audience.
On the second movie night, on Friday, Oct. 30, Monsters, Inc. will be played at 7 p.m. as the night’s family-friendly film, and Monster House will be played at 9 p.m. to appeal to an older audience, Johnson said.
The movies will be free to the public and screened outdoors at the Babe Ruth ball field in Leitchfield. Concessions will be served by the Grayson County High School DECA club.
The movies will cost the Tourism Commission $293 each, for a total cost of $1,186 per night, including the cost of the screen, Johnson said.
In the event of rain, the movies will be screened inside Grayson County Middle School, Johnson said.

*The Tourism Commission granted approval to advertise for bids for the addition of a second slide at Leitchfield Aquatic Center (LAC).
Johnson said Leitchfield Tourism budgeted $175,000 for the current fiscal year to go toward the purchase of a second slide.
*Leitchfield Tourism Commissioner Angie Jones said the 2015 Halloween Safe Spot will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Grayson County Fairgrounds on Halloween (Saturday, Oct. 31).
Any businesses wanting to set up during the Halloween Safe Spot may call Jones at 270-589-9030.
*The Leitchfield Lions Club is hosting an upcoming performance of the Harlem Globetrotters at Grayson County High School on Monday, Nov. 2. The performance is open to the public.
*Leitchfield City Clerk Kim Sowders said the bids for the LAC parking expansion will be opened on Thursday, Sept. 10.
