A man wanted by State Police was captured in Caneyville on Saturday, Aug. 22, after he attempted to elude officers.

According to a release from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Joey Beasley and Special Deputy Mark Stanton arrived at a Webster Lane address at approximately 9:21 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant on Mindy Parks.

While at the residence, Beasley encountered a male subject who was hiding behind a hammock, Sheriff Norman Chaffins said.

When Beasley told the hiding man to show his hands, the subject fled on foot.

Chaffins said that “deputies quickly caught up with the man” who was placed under arrest and identified as 27-year-old Jeremy M. Potts of Central City.

Potts was charged by local police with possession of methamphetamines and fleeing or evading police in the second degree.

Potts was also wanted on “several outstanding warrants from the Kentucky State Police Post 4 area,” Chaffins explained.

Potts was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center following his arrest. As of press time, he was still at the facility, being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
