A Red Cross blood drive hosted by the City of Clarkson and Police Chief Buck Meredith went exceptionally well on Friday, Aug. 14, with nearly 40 pints of blood being donated in just five hours. According to Meredith, the original goal was to reach 25 pints.

When city officials suggested hosting a meet-and-greet for Meredith as the new Chief of Police, Meredith asked if the group could instead host a blood drive as a way to give back to the community. Mayor Bonnie Henderson and the city’s commissioners quickly got behind the idea, and Meredith scheduled the event which was held at Clarkson’s City Hall and Community Center.

Many area officials stopped by to donate, along with Clarkson residents, and Meredith said he was extremely pleased with the turnout.
