Upon your appointment, you are probably having pain, weakness and limited motion or any other dysfunction. All of these issues may keep you from doing your job, sports, or normal daily activities. Physical therapy will correct your problems, alleviate pain and help you regain your strength to move forward with life.
Physical therapists are health care professionals who will evaluate and treat the condition resulting from injury or disease. They will assess joint motion, muscle strength, endurance, balance, and performance of activities required for work, sports, and activities of daily living. Your physical therapist prescribes a goal-oriented program upon your evaluation. It may also be called a “plan of care” that includes a regimen of treatments and prevention of future injury. The program should be customized for your specific needs. This program may include ultrasound, electrical stimulation, manual therapy, moist heat, and other techniques to facilitate the healing process.
The focus is for long-term resolution of your problem without the need of prescribed medication. The therapist you choose should be knowledgeable about your condition and your recovery to identify your gains weekly to be educating you so that the condition may be prevented in the future.
