The 4-H County Talk Meet for Speeches and Demonstrations was held on April 18, 2016 at the Grayson County Extension Office. The contest teaches youth the parts of a good speech or demonstration, how to write the text, effective delivery techniques, and gives them a lot of opportunities to practice in front of others. This event is designed to boost confidence and teach skills that will benefit youth throughout college and into their adult life. The Junior category is for youth ages 9-13, and the Senior category is for youth ages 14-18.
Winners in the Grayson County 4-H Talk Meet for Speeches and Demonstrations are as follows:
Senior Speech: 1st Place: Sierra Lyons.
Junior Speech: 1st Place: Mikayla Clemons; 2nd Place: Kennedy Ferguson.
Senior Demonstration: 1st Place: Sinclair Ferguson; 2nd Place: (Team) Paloma and Eliana Falcon; 3rd Place: Sierra Lyons.

Congratulations to these winners and to all the participants in the 4-H Talk Meet. Fear of public speaking is on the top of the Fear Charts, so it takes an incredible amount of courage for these kids to put their fears aside and step up for this challenge! These winners move up to the next level at the Area Rally Day competition to be held on May 14th at the United Methodist Church meeting facilities.
