Congratulations to Norman and Emily Stahl of 102 Sunset Drive in Leitchfield who will celebrate 65 years of marriage on June 10, 2015. Norman, originally from Bowling Green and Emily, originally from Kyrock in Edmonson County, met while attending college at what is now Western KY University. They married in 1950 and moved to Leitchfield to open Leitchfield Cleaners in partnership with Presley and Zula Lewis. That business was in operation for fifty years and closed in 2002.
Emily first worked as a Leitchfield telephone operator, later at C P Electronics, and later managed E Z Coin Laundry. She enjoyed being a seamstress and fondly remembers the seasons when she made the LHS cheerleaders’ uniforms. Norman served terms as a City Councilman and on the Sewer and Water Commission. He was recently recognized as the last surviving charter member of the Leitchfield Lions Club. Like other dads he coached Little League Baseball and summer softball teams and taught boy’s Sunday School at Leitchfield First Baptist Church.
They have three children: Gregory W Stahl of St. Simmons Island, Georgia; Dr. Daniel R Stahl of Seffner, Florida; and Gloria Stahl Whobrey of Leitchfield, KY. They have eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A family reunion is being planned in their honor on Saturday June 20, 2015.
