Burn restrictions still in place

By Brittany Wise - bwise@civitasmedia.com

The Kentucky Division of Forestry would like to remind area residents that we are still in Kentucky forest fire hazard season.

No burning is allowed before 6 p.m.

Fires must be extinguished by 6 a.m.

This lasts through Tuesday, Dec. 15, as part of the Oct. to Dec. fire hazard season. These rules will go back into effect on Feb. 15 and last through April 30.

During these time frames, it is unlawful to set fire to any flammable material capable of spreading fire located in or within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland, or to set fires outside of the permitted time from of 6 p.m. through 6 a.m.

These laws are pursuant to KRS 149.400.

For further information, contact your local Kentucky Division of Forestry Office by calling 270-824-7527.
