Now families can experience the joy of a drive-In movie, right in their own town, when the Grayson County Fairgrounds is turned into a movie theater on November 14.
The 4-H Adventure Club came up with the idea when the organization needed to raise money for their group.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, for a minimal fee, carloads of five people will get the chance to watch 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
Kindra Ewing, the Grayson County Extension Agent for 4-H/Youth Development, explained that the students simply saw a need for something like this in the community.
"We would like for this to start becoming a regular thing," Ewing urged. "Starting next spring, we would like to do this once a month, on a regular basis. Since there is not a movie theater in town, we thought this would be something unique for the club to do."
The movie will be projected on the back of the office building at the fairgrounds, located off of Brandenburg Road. Joseph Alexander, with R&B Productions, will provide production and sound for the event.
If it rains, the movie will be moved to the smaller pavilion.
"It will sound kind of like an amphitheater (behind the office building)," Ewing said. "The 4-H Adventure Club will be providing concessions. We will have candy, drinks and popcorn very reasonably priced."
'Pirates of the Caribbean' was the chosen movie because of its popularity, as well as being known as a family film.
"I hope everything goes over well," Ewing mentioned. "This is our first time doing this. The more we make, the newer the movies will be, and the more we can do for the public."
People are asked to bring blankets and chairs to sit on while watching the film.
