Robert Hayse, 60, of Leitchfield, who was found dead in an overturned vehicle on Tuesday, December 10, may have drowned, according to Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson.

The preliminary cause of Hayse’s death is drowning; however, the autopsy and toxicology results have not yet been received, Hudson said.

The official cause of death has not yet been determined.

At 7:19 a.m. on Dec. 10, Grayson County E-911 Dispatch received a call reporting an overturned 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier in a creek on Commerce Drive in Leitchfield.

The Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene where the driver of the vehicle, Hayse, was pronounced deceased by Hudson at 8:00 a.m., according to a previous LPD press release.

Based on information obtained in the preliminary investigation into the accident, the Cavalier was travelling west on Commerce Drive when it left the roadway and struck a large pipe before overturning into the creek, the release read.
