As you may know, the federal government is undergoing many changes - some of which directly affect the people in this county. Programs are being cut nationwide, and Grayson County is no exception. Therefore, the needs are growing! Right here, in your hometown, people are struggling to have enough food each day.
Each year, the Grayson County Alliance runs a direct-mail campaign to encourage local donations. Last year saw the most generous donations ever. However, this year, the numbers are not sufficient to support the need, and nowhere near the amount that has been received in years past.
The Food Pantry had the largest increase in households served in October, and expects the numbers to continue to increase. As the numbers served increase, the need for donations, both monetary and food, also increases.
We need your help. If you have received your campaign letter and already responded, thank you so much! If you have not yet responded, or failed to get a letter and would like to help your neighbors, please contact the Grayson County Alliance at 125 E. Market Street, Suite 3, Leitchfield, KY 42754.
The Food Pantry can always use more volunteer help, and with the increase in families being served, now may be a good time for you to volunteer a few hours per month. All volunteer help and donations will be greatly appreciated. For more information or to volunteer, call 259-4000.
