Connie Gootee was officially hired as the new Caneyville City Clerk during a special-called Caneyville City Commission meeting on Tuesday, October 29.

During the meeting, which was called to discuss personnel, Gootee presented her letter of resignation as a Caneyville City Commissioner, effective immediately.

The Commission accepted Gootee’s resignation and subsequently passed a motion to hire Gootee as the new Caneyville City Clerk, effective Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Gootee said she chose to apply for the recently vacated City Clerk’s position because of her love for Caneyville.

“I’m a Caneyville person,” she said. “I wanted to be involved with the City…I was happy that they hired me.”

Gootee said her first day as City Clerk on Wednesday went well and has her excited for the future.

“I’m going to love it here,” she said. “[I have] great people I work with.”

A replacement Caneyville City Commissioner has not yet been announced.

The pay schedule for Gootee’s position will be $12.00 per hour with a 6-month probation period, according to the minutes from Tuesday’s Commission meeting.
