For this week only, individuals can vote online for Grayson County High School to receive one of a number of prizes, including a Kelly Clarkson concert at the school, a $100,000 grant, or a $25,000 grant.
The contest, called Celebrate My Drive and sponsored by State Farm Insurance, is an online initiative designed to promote safe-driving awareness, according to Leitchfield State Farm Insurance Agent Carter Harrell, Jr.
“As a community, we need to come together [to support GCHS in this contest],” Harrell said. “Whoever has the most votes is going to get the most money.”
To participate, visit www.celebratemydrive.com and follow a few short steps to pledge “a commitment” (at no cost) to drive safely, said Grayson County Schools Public Information Officer Caryn Lewis.
Following the completion of the pledge a vote or “commitment” will be added to the GCHS tally, Lewis said.
Voting ends this Saturday, October 26, and individuals are permitted to vote once a day per e-mail address that they have, Harrell said.
The contest is divided into two categories, large and small schools. Large schools, the category in which GCHS falls, consist of 750 or more students, and small schools consist of less than 750 students, Lewis said.
Harrell said two high schools will win Kelly Clarkson concerts, which will be held at the schools; ten $100,000 grants will be awarded to high schools; and 90 $25,000 grants will be awarded, as well.
The prizes will be divided equally between the large and small schools categories, Lewis said.
