The annual Chow Down for the Hounds fundraiser will be held this Saturday, Oct. 19 to raise funds for the Grayson County Humane Society.
The event, which is held each October, will take place in the Grayson County Middle School cafeteria from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
In addition to a soup and chili supper, there will be an auction which includes about 60 gift baskets covering a wide array of interests, and also a silent auction for additional special items.
According to Humane Society volunteer Lindsey Shaffar, a few of the big-ticket items offered will include UK basketball tickets; box seats at Churchill Downs (non-derby); and a shotgun shell mailbox.
Basket varieties will range from gourmet to fragrance, to Bass Pro Shop, books, gardening, and Hello Kitty.
“There will be some really nice items,” Shaffar said, adding that “all proceeds will benefit the animals at the local shelter.”
Funds raised at this event - which is the all-volunteer shelter’s main fundraiser of the year - will go toward veterinarian bills, vaccines, other healthcare costs and food for the animals.
“We just ask the community to come out and support the animals!” Shaffar said.
Anyone interested in donating auction items or who would like more information on the event, is welcome to call 259-3512 or 230-7238.
