David E. Carter, 83, of Leitchfield, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

He was born May 28, 1935 in Grayson County, the son of the late C.E.”Cletus” Carter and Julia (Carwile) Carter.

He was a retired delivery truck driver for Mid-South Lumber (Leitchfield Lumber) who enjoyed spending time with friends and family, helping others and making people laugh.

He is survived by three children, Susan Martin, of Leitchfield, Bonnie (Kenny) Pierce, of Big Clifty, and Marty Leslie (Melinda), of Leitchfield; eight grandchildren, Tonya Hill (Leonard), of Leitchfield, Kerry (Mandy) Pierce, of Big Clifty, Dustin Leslie (Micah), of Clarkson, Jennifer Nichiporuk, of Nashville, Tennessee, Jonathan Nichiporuk (Beth), of Clinton, Iowa, Jamie Nichiporuk, of Kingston Springs, Tennessee, and Jason and Justin Martin, of Leitchfield; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Hill, Josh Hill, and Kennedy Pierce.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, C.E. (Cletus) and Juila Carter; his wife, Eunice “Toonie” Gannaway Carter; and a sister, Marion Shain.

A memorial service will be at Coyle Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Breckinridge County Nov. 11. Visitation will be from 2:30-3:30, and the service will begin at 3:30.

Bro. Billy Carter will be officiating the service.

Floral arrangements can be delivered to 511 Lilac Rd., Leitchfield on Friday, Nov. 9 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. or Coyle Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
