A good first quarter propelled the Grayson County High School girls' varsity basketball team to a tournament game win last Friday.

Grayson defeated Hopkins County Central 56-46, improving to 6-5 for the season.

The Lady Cougars outscored Central 17-5 in the first eight minutes of action, with all of the scoring coming from Laura Vincent and Kenzie Renfrow. Vincent scored eight points and Renfrow tallied nine in the first quarter.

Grayson led 28-12 after the first half as Renfrow scored nine points in the second quarter.

Central outscored the Lady Cougars 12-10 in the third quarter, but Grayson held on for the win.

Renfrow finished with 26 points to be named the player of the game. Bailey Snyder scored 11 points, and Vincent finished with nine points for Grayson.
