The Grayson County High School Cougars and Lady Cougars faced off against the Butler County Bears and Lady Bears on Jan. 4 with both Cougar teams leaving the Bears in the dust.

The Lady Cougars played first, winning 46-37, making this their seventh win for the season. The top three scorers for this game had 32 of those points.

Laura Vincent scored three two-pointers and 11 free-throws for a total of 17 points. Kenzie Renfrow scored two two-pointers and four free-throws for a total of eight points. Kaylee Masden scored one two-pointer, one three-pointer, and two free-throws for a total of seven points.

The Lady Cougars went on to lose the next two away games. They lost against Caverna at Edmonson County for the Byrd is the Word Classic on last Saturday, 57-60. Then, on Tuesday, they lost against Owensboro Catholic, 37-62. This brings their season to 7-8.

The Lady Cougars will face off against Ohio County today at OCHS at 7 p.m.

The Cougars also won against Butler County 52-36. This was their fifth win of the season. The top three scorers of the game had 40 of those points.

Spencer Sharp scored four two-pointers, three three-pointers, and six free-throws for a total of 23 points. Q'Daryius McHenry scored three two-pointers, and seven free-throws for a total of 13 points. Nolan Shartzer scored one two-pointer and two free-throws for a total of 4 points.

The Cougars went on to win their next two games, bringing their season record to 7-10. They won the home game against Henderson County on Saturday, 51-40, and traveled to Ohio County Tuesday, winning 49-44.

The Cougars will next travel to Owensboro Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
