Numerous emergency response personnel responded to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday morning, Nov. 14 after a pickup truck crashed into the property.

Just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a red 1998 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 20-year-old Riley Milliner, of Clarkson, crashed into the pole in front of the Grayson County Sheriff's Office (GCSO).

The Leitchfield Police Department was called to investigate the crash, and the Leitchfield Fire Department also responded to check for structural damage to the GCSO.

Milliner told police that, as he was driving around the square, travelling south, the Chevrolet's brakes went out, according to investigating Leitchfield Police Officer Joe Overton.

Milliner stated he saw an open parking spot in front of the GCSO, where vehicles awaiting car inspections are parked, and drove the Chevrolet toward that spot; however, he was unable to stop the truck, Overton said.

The Chevrolet then knocked over the car inspection parking sign before crashing into the pole in front of the GCSO and coming to a rest.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The Chevrolet was disabled due to the crash and was towed from the scene by Stevenson's Wrecker Service.

Grayson County Emergency Management also assisted on the scene.

Later on Tuesday, a woman on Clarkson Road called Grayson County Central Dispatch to report that a young man was walking and stopped at her house asking for a drink, according to GCSO Sergeant Clay Boone, who was called to respond to the report at approximately 2:11 p.m.

The woman reported that the man, later identified as Milliner, was "acting strange and walking from one side of the road to the other," Boone said.

GCSO Special Deputy Mark Stanton initially made contact with Milliner on Mulberry Flats Road. Boone later arrived on the scene and, through speaking with Milliner, determined he was under the influence of some type of drug.

Boone arrested Milliner and charged him with Public Intoxication - Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol). Milliner was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
